BOGALUSA, Louisiana - It figured to be a high scoring game. That thought was recognized Friday night at Lewis V. Murray Jr. Stadium in Bogalusa. John Ehret rallied in the fourth quarter to overcome Bogalusa 49-39.
As is his custom, Bogalusa coach Cyril Crutchfield elected to start the game with an onside kick and the Lumberjacks recovered but could not capitalize. John Ehret struck first as Eric Cheneau connected with Raymond Lane for 40 yards and that set up the first score to make it 7-0. Cheneau then hit Keain Shorts on a 30-yard touchdown pass to give the Patriots a 14-0 lead.
Ashton Levi hit Lance Jackson on a 60-yard bomb for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-6.
Levi continued his big night, hitting Leandes Lester Jr. on a 65-yard touchdown pass and a successful 2-point conversion made it 14-14.

Anthony Sheridan then recovered a fumble for the Lumberjacks and that set up a 3-yard touchdown pass from Levi to Dyron Jackson to give Bogalusa its first lead at 20-14.
Levi then found Desmond Ramirez on a 90-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 27-14.
The Patriots responded with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Cheneau to Florida commit Wardell Mack and it was 27-21 Bogalusa at halftime.
Bogalusa scored to make it 33-21 before quarterback Darnell O’Quinn scored on a quarterback draw from five yards out to make it 33-29. The Jackson added another score to give the Lumberjacks a 39-29 lead in the fourth quarter.

Damien Smith scored on a 1-yard run to cut the deficit to 39-36 with 7:41 to play in the game before Smith raced 30 yards for a touchdown to give Ehret a 43-39 lead with four minutes remaining. After getting a stop, the Patriots held on to the ball until the final minute. On fourth-and-four from the Bogalusa 7-yard line, Charles Coleman caught from a 7-yard pass from Cheneau. Ehret coach Reggie Rogers elected to go for it and scored the final touchdown to put the game away.
Speaking on The Three Tailgaters Show on 106.1 FM Saturday morning, Ehret coach Reggie Rogers was pleased with his team overcoming adversity. “Coach Crutchfield always has his players ready to play,” Rogers said. “When you go on the road, it is a playoff atmosphere. The odds are against you. It is about figuring out a way to win. It is a challenging schedule and I wanted to challenge our team to see what we have. I believe we are good.”
Bogalusa (2-2) will host Chalmette (3-1) on Friday, September 29 at 7:00 PM as they look for their first home win of the season.
