BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (July 18, 2025) — According to a preseason poll of media attending the SEC Football Media Days, Texas is favored to win the 2025 SEC Championship.

The Longhorns garnered 96 votes to claim the SEC Champion title on December 6 in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with Georgia predicted to be Texas’ opponent in a repeat of the 2024 SEC Championship Game. Georgia received 44 votes for the SEC Championship win.

The teams competing in the SEC Championship Game will be decided based on the regular-season conference schedule, featuring the two teams with the highest overall SEC winning percentages.

Since 1992, only 10 out of 33 times has the team predicted as the champion at SEC Media Days gone on to win the SEC Championship Game.

The 2024 SEC Championship Game averaged 16.6 million viewers on ABC and ESPN, marking the fourth-largest audience on record for the game. Georgia's overtime victory, which peaked with 19.7 million viewers, attracted the largest college football audience of the season — exceeding the previous high set by the regular season matchup between the same teams. Overall, last season's SEC title game delivered the third-largest regular season college football audience ever on the ESPN family of networks.
